Teacher - philosopher friend

We have a team of highly dedicated and qualified teachers .They are experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic enough to create a homely and friendly atmosphere for the children to express themselves and imbibe . They believe in positive encouragement rather than any kind of punishment (strictly prohibited). All the staff works as a team under active guidance of the Administrator. The staff regularly reviews and assesses the need to update their skills.

To address the needs of the teachers at Ankuran, members of the core team regularly conduct training and professional support workshops. In addition, workshops are also conducted by resource persons. Intense in-service workshops are conducted around each vacation of the school calendar. Technology - revolutionary support

Studies have shown that memory that is stored in our left brain does not last long, whereas images kept in the right brain persist forever. So, to develop the storing and recalling ability together, we at Ankuran have practical mode of education, with audio-visual support, which also builds up interest of a child and makes learning easy, such as –

  • Digital touch screen white board fitted with projector and CPU (smart board).
  • LCD fitted with CPU.
  • Projector.
Evaluation System

At Ankuran, students are evaluated on the basis of their willingness to learn and the efforts they make to reach their goals. Processes of learning and the relationships that students create while learning are accorded high significance. Students are not compared with each other; instead, they are gently guided to understand the inherent strengths, virtues and potential that they possess within themselves. The objective is to recognise the progress that each child makes in their own learning curve. Teachers use daily class observations, students’ creative pursuits, informal assessments, group and individual goal settings as indicators of progress and development. To the extent possible, teachers share their observations with the parents and seek collective goal, setting as the strategy for future development of each student. Evaluation at Ankuran is a source of inspiration and learning and not a time for judgement and fear. Children undergo a weekly evaluation.

Assessment Progress Report

The curriculum of Ankuran is segregated into four quarters, labeled as 1st term (January-February-March), 2nd term (April-May-June), 3rd term (July-August-September) and 4th term (October-November-December). ‘Assessment Progress Reports’ are prepared at the end of each term, based on the weekly evaluation of a child drawn by teachers and issued to the parents.

Academic Progress Report

‘Academic Progress Reports’ are prepared based on the tests conducted at the end of 2nd and 4th terms. The reports are individually issued to the parents in one-on-one parent-teacher interactions.

Parent Interaction

True education seeks a continuum among the efforts made by the child, the parents and the school. Since the experiences of the school and the home are equally significant for the development of all children, so Ankuran encourages harmonious interaction in thinking and approach between the caretakers at home and in school. So, one-on-one parent-teacher interactions are conducted at regular intervals (usually in the month of April, August and December) to have unfeigned detail discussion on the progress and development achieved by the child. On other days, parents can meet teachers with prior permission and approval from the administrator. The school always welcome constructive suggestions and ideas from all parents to make their children’s development more meaningful and real.
